The Philosophy of Aashiyana
Aashiyana, our safe and loving retirement home for dogs has become home to many blind and paralysed street dogs, breeder discards, and abandoned senior pets.
The Philosophy of Aashiyana is to provide individual care and attention to all its residents and to strongly discourage hoarding of animals in small areas. The maximum capacity at Aashiyana is 50, and each dog is given special care, yearly vaccinations, and they live in cage free environments. They are sterilized, dewormed, deticked, deflead and groomed to look their absolute best!
Our fur babies are also bathed periodically, and are taken on long refreshing walks every alternate day.
The sunset years for animals
At ART Pune, we understand that dogs and cats need a retirement home too. That’s why we built AASHIYANA, our very own retirement facility for animals.
Only those that cannot survive on the street
Aashiyana is home to dogs that are completely paralyzed, blind, breeder discard or abandoned senior pets who are no longer able to care for themselves. These dogs are provided with a loving and cage-free environment where they can live out their remaining years in comfort and safety.
The best of treatment
All of the dogs at Aashiyana are sterilized, vaccinated, and receive regular veterinary care including deworming, deticking, defleaing, and grooming.
Only a fixed number of animals
We are against animal hoarding, as it causes harm to animals and an NGO, Shelter, or an individual’s inability to provide for the basic needs of animals in their care. At ART Pune, we only take in animals who really need to be here and provide them with the best possible care.
Upcoming sections for cats and birds
Our future goal is to expand our services by building a retirement home for cats and an aviary for disabled birds who can never fly.
